Customs duties.<\/strong> From July 1, 2026, cars manufactured in the USA, with proven origin, enter the EU with 0 % duty (Regulation (EU) 2026\/1455, in force until 12\/31\/2029). Classic cars 30 years old or more, in original condition and of a discontinued model, enter as collector's items (code 9705), also with 0 % duty. In both cases, nothing to pay in Denmark.<\/p>\n VAT.<\/strong> For a reseller with a valid VAT number (VIES), the sale is made without Portuguese VAT, and VAT is automatically charged in Denmark. For a private individual, the VAT from the Portuguese invoice or the margin scheme applies. The exact framework is specified in each proposal.<\/p>\n The tax applies to all vehicles registered for the first time in Denmark, including used vehicles from the EU. In 2026: 25 % up to 76,400 DKK, 85 % up to 237,400 DKK and 150 % above, less a base deduction, plus a CO2 supplement. For a used vehicle, the base is the Danish market value set by Motorstyrelsen.<\/p>\n Veterans over 35 years old<\/strong>No CO2 supplement and with a ceiling \u2014 the tax never exceeds the amount calculated on 75 % of the new car's price.
